My name is Lorna and I’m a Sutherland Shire Maternity Photographer. Here you’ll find all the information you need for your photoshoot.
I have a few favourite locations that I’m happy to recommend in the Sutherland Shire. My favourite places for maternity photos are Cape Solander Lookout (acceess only available from April – September) and Silver beach (which is also dog friendly – if you’d like to include your pets), both of which are located in Kurnell. I prefer to shoot at these two locations as I’m very familiar with the areas and know what the sun and light will do at certain times of the year. Most sessions take 1-1.5 hours. It’s important that we don’t rush and we can spend some time getting to know each other and having some fun. All outdoor photo shoots take place at sunset time. That’s because the sun gives us a beautiful natural warmth and depth; it provides natural contrast and lights up so many aspects of an image – the trees, leaves, and people. It results in some truly amazing shots for you. Depending on what time of year it is, will depend on what time your photo shoot is. In the middle of summer sunset is at 8.30pm, so meeting at 7.30pm is ideal. During the middle of winter, sunset is at 5pm so I like to meet at 4pm. Your photo shoot will be scheduled for a Saturday evening. I only book one maternity and one family shoot per month, so booking in early is ideal to secure the date/time of year of your preference. I only do outdoor photo shoots at sunset. All the images that you see in the above gallery have been taken at sunset. If I was to shoot earlier in the day, then I would simply not receive the same results because the lighting will be so different. Trust me, once you see your beautiful images, it will be worth it! If you’re really worried about the kid’s bedtime, we can schedule your photo shoot during the months of April to September when sunset will be earlier in the day. In the even of rain or overcast weather, we’ll simply reschedule. Because I only take on a limited number of photoshoots per month, I’ll have lots of availability to change the date that won’t be too far in the future; it may be only delayed by a day or a week, depending on what the weather will be like. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your photo shoot – the possibility of the date changing due to the weather. Anytime between 30 – 35 week pregnant I find works best. However, if you’re nearing the end of your pregnancy and you’d like a last minute shoot, give me a call and we can work something out. Yes, absolutely you can! Our pets are part of our family and having them included will be a wonderful keepsake as the years pass. Yes, of course! I have small selection of dresses available that have been made and designed for pregnancy and they photograph beautifully. All dresses are a medium size and some of them can stretch. If you’d like to wear one, please let me know and I can send you the details.
